About the role
Responsible for controlling or operating the chemical processes/systems of machines associated with the Nitrates Product Line to the extent of their skill and competence while undergoing comprehensive training program.
What you will be doing
Safety Health & Environment
•Comply with all Orica, regulatory, safety, health & environment requirements
•Personal leadership, constantly seeking to improve safety •
•Provide technical input to risk assessments
•Initiate improvement to safety procedures and equipment safety
•Deal with emergency situations in the plants
Working Together
•Work supportively within an operating team to run the plants
•Develop good work relationships with maintenance personnel to maximize plant reliability
•Support Engineering personnel with troubleshooting and improvement projects
•Deal professionally with support personnel – contractors, carriers, etc.
•Attain high level of technical knowledge of the plants and technology
•Attain minimum of a 3rd class steam ticket
Commercial Ownership
•Operate plants to meet production demands
•Run the plants at highest efficiencies and lowest energy consumption
•Support continual improvement in productivity
•Process and equipment troubleshooting
•Prepare equipment for maintenance work
•Carry out minor maintenance on shift Creative Customer Solutions
•Do all quality testing to assure high product quality
•Initiate/support product quality improvement efforts
•Become knowledgeable in quality troubleshooting
•Provide high level of product and service to internal and external customers
What you will bring
•Grade 12 High school diploma minimum.
•WHIMS, TDG and other site training requirements.
•4th class steam ticket is an advantage
