Purpose & Scope of The Position:
The Process Operations Superintendent is responsible for safe and cost-effective operation of a copper process facility which include, grinding (including SAG circuits), conveying, flotation, thickening, concentrate and filtering unit operations, tailings facility operations and maintenance as well as maintaining a union free workplace.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of Robinson Nevada Mining Company and KGHM.
- Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
- Process budgeted tons, achieve budgeted recovery, produce budgeted pounds, and co-ordinate operations activities. Review and recommend potential production improvement strategies to meet or exceed production objectives.
- Enforce company policy and MSHA regulations. Foster an accident free and safe working environment.
- Meet production budgets and forecasts. Keep production costs within budgeted figures. Review and recommend potential cost savings to meet or reduce cost objectives.
- Maintain overall process plant operation and internal processing units in an environmentally responsible way and within federal, state, and local regulations minimizing the operation’s impact to the environment.
- Encourage low production costs through innovation, keeping abreast of new technology, and communicating with process operations and maintenance personnel regarding their ideas and thoughts on operating improvements.
- Interface with mine and metallurgical technical staff to improve productivity and profitability.
- Work closely with the Mill/TSF Maintenance Superintendent to ensure minimal disruptions of process operations.
- Experience:
- Minimum of ten (10) years of mineral processing experience including five (5) years in a copper/base metal concentrator.
- Five (5) years supervisory experience.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering is desirable. Equivalent years of related experience can be substituted for the degree requirements.
- Thorough working knowledge of processing operations and metallurgy, including the functions and responsibilities of support departments.
- Organizational, communication and team building skills are also required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Willingness to travel including overnight as necessary.
- Communicate goals and information to process department employees. Work with Human Resources Representatives to resolve conflicts and maintain a harmonious work environment.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to meet the required physical demands, including exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds of force constantly.
