I. Position Description
Performs kettle treatments, casts pig/ingot and block lead. Operates necessary department process equipment including forklift and scrubbers to accomplish the job.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs kettle treatments and casting operations.
- Operates departmental equipment including Forklifts and floor scrubbers.
- Complies with all environmental, health, safety and housekeeping programs.
- Other duties as assigned include contractor Safety/Environmental watch.
- Good oral, written communication and basic math skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meet qualifications for this position as described in the current collective bargaining unit agreement.
- Able to wear the required personal protective equipment.
- Able to learn to operate casting machine, casting blocks, and perform kettle treatments
- Be qualified to access and handle red phosphorus.
- Environmental training applicable to the job
- Safety training for applicable equipment and job tasks.
- Job instructional training
- Able to learn to operate forklifts, scrubbers, cranes, pumps, mixers, and other associated equipment.
- Quality system familiarization
- Plant EMS objectives and targets
- Significant environmental air aspects and impacts for the refinery

IV. Physical Requirements & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach and pull with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift, push, pull and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 65 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places, in outside weather conditions. He works with conditions and materials that if not managed properly could react explosively. He is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
