Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.


Job Summary

Plans and performs technical construction or Information Technology infrastructure quality inspection work to verify compliance with project plans, codes, specifications, and standards established for the business unit. In addition, performs internal oversight process assessments. Solves unique and complex problems with a broad impact on the enterprise and contributes to the development of enterprise strategies. May manage project teams in achieving milestones and objectives, and/or interact with key quality personnel, scientists, and officials from outside the Enterprise, although there are no supervisory responsibilities. Initiates new ideas and approaches; challenges prevailing practices and approaches with reasonably sound alternatives. Span of control is 0


Key Accountabilities

- Performs audits, surveillances, or other internal assessments as assigned to ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Management System Requirements.

- Plans for and leads supplier oversight assessments. This may include travel to the supplier or manufacturing site to perform oversight activities.

- Inspects and monitors quality requirements in accordance with the company Quality Management System manual, policies, procedures, and project specifications.

- Reads, interprets and understands the terms and conditions of construction contracts, specifications, standards, codes, and drawings as they pertain to the performance of inspection duties.

- Inspects all phases of construction within assigned work area. Typical construction work inspected may include civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, systems, architectural, environmental, and landscaping work.

- Ensures the contractor is working with approved plans, specifications, shop/construction drawings and updated contract drawings.

- Verifies the implementation of the inspection and testing portions of the contractor quality control plan that pertains to the work assignment and verifies quality conforms to contract standards.

- Initiates Non-Conformance reports (NCR) and/or Corrective Action Request (CAR) as required for conditions effecting quality to gain resolution and minimize re-work.

- Stops or suspends work if necessary, to prevent accident or injury, or proceeding with activities that will have a negative effect on quality.

- Monitors corrective actions to inspection findings/deficiencies.

- Performs accurate mechanical, physical and visual inspection of materials, components, and sub-assemblies as per Inspection Plans and Specification Requirements.

- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those individuals and organizations encountered in the work.

- Complies with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations


Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent and 10 years of relevant experience in a Construction, Manufacturing, or Quality environment; OR

- Associate degree in Engineering, Quality, Construction, Project Management, IT or other technical degree and 8 years of in a Construction, Manufacturing, or Quality environment; OR

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Construction, Project Management, IT or other technical degree and 6 years of experience in a Construction, Manufacturing, or Quality environment


Other Qualifications


Preferred

- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 or ISO/TS 16001, NQA1, or 10CFR50 Appendix B

- Current auditor certification

- Project or Construction management certification

- Thorough knowledge of regulatory commission or similar external agency orders, regulations & practices

- Experience with reviewing and enforcing contract conditions

- Experience with Warehousing and Logistics

- Continuous Improvement Experience (Application of tools)

- Worked with either a Union or a large contractor force in the past


Other Requirements

- Familiarity with structured quality program

- Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word.

- Familiarity with precision measuring and test equipment.

- Communicates effectively (verbally & in writing) with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the Corporation

- Analytical & problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations

- Competent in multitasking (i.e the ability to prioritize & manage multiple tasks, issues or projects that may include high visibility initiatives and require innovation, teamwork & planning)

- Ability to apply quality planning & implementation and/or continuous improvement principles to affect tangible, positive outcomes
