SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Manager, Strategic Procurement and Supplier Development provides leadership and strategic consultation on sourcing and procurement processes. This position leads new supplier development and engagement activities and manages existing supplier maintenance and continuous improvement activities to ensure long term procurement sustainability.

- Manage and provide leadership for procurement strategies to deliver efficient and effective services, ensuring quality of work and compliance with standards, policies, trade agreements, and governance requirements.
- Develop plans and recommendations for identified new and/or enhanced processes and initiatives that support continuous improvement for the services delivered through procurement.
- Develop and maintain strategic networks and business relationships both internally and externally (e.g., Crown Investments Corporation, SaskBuilds, etc.) to foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships utilizing vendor engagement activities with Saskatchewan and Indigenous suppliers.
- Oversee and participate in contract negotiations to ensure accuracy and benefits to the company.
- Review the performance of existing contracts with suppliers to ensure on-going feasibility and success.
- Monitor and support business unit performance, team effectiveness and accountability to ensure planned goals result in desired outcomes.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Engineering.
- Purchasing Management Certification and Qualification typically obtained through the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation.
- Seven (7) years of progressive experience, including significant responsibility in a procurement environment.
- Highly collaborative; interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to build, manage and foster relationships both across the organization and with external parties.
- Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Ability to impact and influence others while holding people accountable
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work and manage in a changing environment.
- Experience collaborating and fostering relationships with vendors and Indigenous groups would be considered an asset.
- Ability to foster a culture focused on innovation and teamwork.
- Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
- Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required.
- This job requires travel time.
- A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
