The Press Technician is tasked with understanding and improving processes to ensure manufacturing lines produce quality products safely and efficiently. This role will interact with many cross functional teams and will require flexibility to support Engineering, Quality, New Product Introduction (NPI) and additional organizations.

What You’ll Be Doing:
This position involves operating and maintaining specialized machines used to press powdered metals into desired shapes. Responsibilities include cleaning the equipment, performing preventative maintenance, installing uninstalling and cleaning the die sets, maintaining an inventory of dies in the die bank, understanding process parameters required to produce a green compact, and helping troubleshoot runtime issues to ensure smooth production.
Responsibilities include the following:
•Die Setup and Maintenance:
+ Carefully install and align powder pressing dies within the machine according to specifications, using precision measuring tools.
+ Inspect dies for wear and damage, periodically remove dies for polishing, polish die and reinstall.
+ Incoming inspection of new dies sets.
+ Maintain a die bank with various die sizes to support production.
•Press Operation and Monitoring:
+ Maintain press process parameters (recipe) for each product.
+ Support production by setting up initial process parameters to produce optimum density green compact for each batch and release to production operators.
+ Monitor press operation during production runs, assist in trouble shooting, identifying and addressing any malfunctions or deviations from standard.
+ Regularly inspect pressed parts for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and other quality attributes using appropriate measuring tools.
+ Identify and report any quality issues to ensure corrective actions are taken.
+ Improve green compact yield. Maintain yield loss pareto.
+ Identify and address mechanical issues, including replacing worn components.
+ Conduct preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules.
+ Maintain spare parts inventory.
We are looking for someone who:
•Is a hands-on person with an associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent with experience in a manufacturing environment.
•Has prior experience running pressing operations and maintaining presses and die sets
•Possesses mechanical aptitude with experience in operating and maintaining industrial machinery.
•Is able to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
•Is proficient with precision measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
•Can pay strong attention to detail and quality control standards.
•Shows the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Is proficient in using computers, MS Excel and Word.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to pass a drug screening, medical physical and, if applicable, visual testing.
•Able to move up to 50lbs.
•Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
•Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
•Is capable of making repetitive movements including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting and walking up and down stairs.
