Job Overview
RA Electrical High Voltage is an expanding high voltage electrical contractor, we are currently seeking a Powerline Technician (Journeyperson Certified) to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of tasks including the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power lines, cables, insulators, conductors, transformers, street lighting, and any related infrastructure.
- Ensure that local and company H&S requirements and initiatives are upheld in order to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.
- Conduct self in a professional manner with internal team members and customers
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Collaborate with team members to execute projects efficiently and safely. Additionally, support team development by mentoring apprentices providing guidance, sharing technical knowledge, and promoting safe work practices to help build their skills and confidence on the job.
- Utilize power tools as required
- Install, maintain, and repair of overhear and underground hydro distribution systems.
- Operating equipment and buckets trucks as required
- Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure high-quality results, including reviewing technical drawings to confirm alignment with project specifications and all relevant codes and regulations.
- Operate a variety of specialized equipment and bucket trucks as needed to safely and efficiently perform duties
- Certification as a Powerline Technician Journeyperson, including successful completion of MEARIE or IHSA Powerline Technician Training Program (434A Red Seal Powerline Technician) or equivalent
- Experience operating bucket trucks, radial boom derricks, hydraulic equipment and all other tools used in line maintenance and construction
- Be familiar with and carrying out live line work practices and techniques on the systems including stick work, and rubber glove techniques
- Must have a valid DZ or AZ drivers license.
- Must have valid training in the following: Working at Heights, Pole Top and Bucket Rescue, Bucket Evacuation, Pole Climbing, First Aid & CPR, AED
