Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Powerhouse this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
· Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical components of power generation and distribution systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and control systems;
· Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability;
· Install and test electrical wiring, circuits, and panels, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations;
· Perform electrical switching duties, monitor electrical loads, and optimize power efficiency;
· Respond to unscheduled breakdowns of powerhouse equipment, ensuring prompt diagnosis and repair;
· Maintain powerhouse equipment, auxiliary systems, and fuel storage facilities, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of hydrocarbons;
· Work closely with engineers and maintenance teams to support system upgrades, repairs, and process improvements;
· Ensure adherence to electrical codes, safety regulations, company policies, and HSE programs; and
· Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections while ensuring proper housekeeping of engine rooms, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
· Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician ticket with prior experience in industrial electrical repair and maintenance in the construction and/or mining industry; preference will be given to those with experience working in remote camp settings with limited access to resources and working with CAT engines;
· Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and prints required, with preference given to those with working knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in mining operations; and
· Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and industry best practices.
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $152,958.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $55.50 and overtime rate of $83.25) in a work year.
