Location: California residence required. We are a remote-first work environment with a strong preference to hire staff within a 100-mile radius of San Mateo County. Employees are expected to attend in-person meetings (generally monthly/quarterly) at our Redwood City office. Other meetings may be required.

The Power Resources Specialist/Analyst is an important member of the Power Resources team. The team has a wide range of responsibilities relating to the development and management of Peninsula Clean Energy’s energy supply portfolio to serve customers, meet regulatory requirements, and achieve the agency’s goal to be 100% renewable by 2030. This includes procuring renewable and carbon free energy and resource adequacy products, complying with Peninsula Clean Energy’s hedging and portfolio diversification strategies, achieving regulatory and legislative objectives, and maximizing benefits for our customers.
This position will report to the Senior Manager of Planning and Analytics and may support work for other managers and leadership at PCE. We are seeking candidates who are organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn about Community Choice Energy and the energy industry.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Power Resources Analyst will support the Power Resources team in the Planning and Procurement functions.
This position will support senior staff working in these functional areas, and may also lead projects, depending on the candidate’s experience and ability. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, has strong attention to detail and able to manage activities across multiple projects.
The successful candidate will be assigned tasks according to experience, interest, and ability. Anticipated tasks may include but are not limited to:
Planning Function:
•Find, compile, and review input data for our models.
•Summarize and analyze load and generation data.
•Use existing models to forecast load and generation.
•Use existing models to evaluate portfolio performance and risk.
•Support development and improvement of our models.
Procurement Function:
•Support ongoing and future solicitations for energy products, including short-term contracts, long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Resource Adequacy (RA)
•Review and summarize offers for energy products received.
•Prepare bids for external solicitations.
•Correspond with bidders regarding solicitations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
•BA/BAs degree + 2-6 years of experience in related work. New graduates with exceptional abilities will be considered.
•Advanced degree or equivalent experience in engineering, economics, project management, environmental studies, or clean energy business are preferred

Required Technical Skills:
•Must be a skilled Excel user.
•Familiarity and/or experience with Python or SQL
•Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their application in forecasting
•Familiar with mission and goals of Peninsula Clean Energy.
•Familiarity with the California energy industry and electric power markets specifically, including organizations such as the CAISO.
•Knowledge of energy generation technologies, including carbon neutral electric energy, renewable energy and energy storage technologies.
•Knowledge of Resource Planning and Capacity Expansion.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Knowledge
•Advanced Excel modeling skills.
•Familiarity and/or experience with Google BigQuery and DataStudio.
•Effective dispute resolution skills, and commercial awareness.
