At LCRA, we are seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to join our generation department! This position plays a crucial role in ensuring a reliable electricity supply for Central Texas residents. Our generation facilities combine new and vintage equipment with modern upgrades, excelling in Texas' competitive electric market. As the industry evolves, you will lead the adaptation of our units to meet changing market demands.
This opportunity would allow you to handle diverse engineering tasks, from field investigations to leading troubleshooting efforts and creating logic narratives. Your duties will include developing schematics, installation plans, and comprehensive documentation. - Plan and design engineering projects, perform engineering and design work.
- Conduct field analysis, inspections, and performance tests.
- Prepare technical specifications for project services, equipment, and materials.
- Complete related computations and create schematics, wiring diagrams, bill of material and commissioning plans. Create and update P&ID drawings.
- Coordinate project reviews and implementation plans. Ensure timely communications occur, as needed, for project success.
- Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus four or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
- Experience with PLCs and knowledge of common communication protocols such as Modbus Serial / TCP, and DNP3.
- Experience in troubleshooting analog and digital circuits.
- Experience troubleshooting 480 Vac motors and associated control circuits.
- Knowledge of NEC, NESC, and ISA standards
- Ability to learn new control system software, such as Emerson Ovation, Foxboro, etc.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
