Plasma Table Operator

This position is steady afternoons (3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.) Mon to Thurs.

Overview

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and general maintenance of the plasma table. This is a vacancy within the company.

Key Responsibilities

- Set up, adjust & operate plasma table, including loading/unloading, cutting, deburring and part identification.

- Read work orders / drawings to determine specifications, materials to be used, dimensions & tolerances

- Upload cutting nests, machine setup, cutting head changes and replacement of consumables

- Accurately set controls for speed, feed rate.

- Clean dust collector, plasma table and work area as required.

- Aid in the general maintenance of the plasma table.

- Organize and/or group jobs by priority & material type/thickness.

- Record and allocate material per job requirements.

- Material handling in the shop and yard using a forklift.

- Ensure material inventory is maintained and accurate.

- Ensure that there are minimum consumable stock standards kept at all times.

Qualifications:

- Knowledge of both Plasma and multi Oxy/fuel torch cutting is preferred

- Minimum 1 year experience in operating a plasma table preferred

- Knowledge and use of nesting software is an asset.

- High school graduate or equivalent required

- Crane operation, forklift and material handling experience required.

- Experience working in an ISO quality environment is preferred

Skills and Abilities:

- Must be capable of following instructions

- Must be familiar with measuring tools and safe operation of power tools

- Must have good housekeeping skills

- Must have good computer skills

- A valid drivers’ license is recommended

- Possess basic knowledge in print reading

- Must have good knowledge of different materials

- Must be able to effectively communicate and problem solve within a team

- Must be capable of working effectively with limited supervision but with controlled guidance

- Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and maintain a strong commitment to the B&D Manufacturing Safety Program at all times
