Job summary
The mechanical engineering intern assists Rawhide Energy Station engineering staff on plant systems and associated projects to ensure its reliable, safe, and efficient operation.
This intern works onsite at Rawhide Energy Station for the duration of the internship. Engineering staff including interns work four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. This is being offered as a full-time summer internship at 40 hours per week for three months.

Essential duties and responsibilities
•Reviews, updates, and organizes engineering drawings.
•Assists with outage equipment inspection and documentation of condition assessment.
•Updates Material Test Report (MTR) documentation for ASME R-Stamp certification.
•Completes High Energy Pipe Hanger Survey(s).
•Performs routine tests on plant equipment such as pulverizers, pumps, motors, and lubricants.
•Reviews plant specifications and drawings; makes recommendations for inventory additions.
•Assists plant engineering as needed.
•Performs other duties or project work as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
•Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
•Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a coal fired power plant is preferred
•Demonstrates a positive team attitude
•Good verbal and written communication skills
Required qualifications
•Must be enrolled in a mechanical engineering degree program at an accredited 4 year college, preferably in junior or senior year.
•Preferred emphasis on thermodynamics, heat transfer, metallurgy, or energy.
•Must have reliable mode of transportation to/from assigned work location.
•Be able to meet driver insurability requirements for Platte River's driving policy.
Pay range: $20 to $25 per hour.
