Piping Department Manager

Work Schedule:
Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.
Purpose:
Execute pipe design projects related to heavy industrial facilities.
- Perform piping drafting/design tasks including 3D routing of pipe, determine location of pipe supports and creation of Isometric drawings, sketches necessary for the fabrication and installation of piping systems.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings and technical data from third party vendors.
- Develop, quantify, and organize piping material take-off’s (MTO’s)
- Follow company CAD standards and client piping specifications
- Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specification and codes.
- Perform fieldwork necessary to gather data, check tie-ins and provide construction support
- Ability for check and back check drawings produced by drafting.
- Interact with designers and engineers within the engineering group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction.
- Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook as well as the H+M Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.- Interface with designers from other disciplines to provide a complete 3D model that meets project requirements.
- Competent in understanding and updating P&ID’s
- 10 years of AutoCAD, CADWorx and Navisworks experience in heavy industrial projects
- Experience with utilizing point cloud software such as Autodesk Recap or CloudWorx.
- Experience with Clash Detection is a plus.
- Strong technical, written, and verbal skills with a strong customer service attitude
- TWIC (must be able to obtain a TWIC card)
- Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices
- Code and Plant Specific Standard knowledge/comprehension a must
- Must be able to meet deadlines and work overtime as needed to complete the job
- Strong process plant design background from conceptual design to plant layout and design of process and utility piping systems
- Knowledge of process and utility piping specifications and codes
- Ability to visualize and layout process plants and piping in 3D
- Ability to develop and work from P&ID’s for use in plant layout & piping design
- Basic knowledge of structural steel design related to equipment supports, pipe racks, and building structural framing
- Basic knowledge of instrumentation types and their impact on piping design
- Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Sit for long periods of time
- Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch
- Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
Environment:
Remote and onsite work. Visits to job sites may be required on occasion as needed.
