Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Pipeline Locator to join our team. The Pipeline Locator is responsible for accurately identifying, marking, and documenting the location of underground pipelines using specialized equipment and mapping software. This role plays a crucial part in damage prevention and maintaining the integrity of underground infrastructure.
Duties
•Use electromagnetic locating equipment, GPS/GIS mapping tools, and blueprints to identify the location of underground pipelines.
•Accurately mark pipelines with paint, flags, or other approved methods in accordance with industry and safety standards.
•Interpret utility maps, construction drawings, and service records to assist with locating and verification.
•Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily logs, sketches, and digital reports.
•Communicate with contractors, supervisors, utility companies, and clients regarding locate status and job requirements.
•Follow safety protocols and best practices to avoid line strikes or damage.
•Support field operations and assist with data collection as needed.
•Perform quality assurance checks and participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
Skills
•Experience in utility locating, land surveying, or related fields is preferred.
•Proficiency in blueprint reading to interpret construction plans effectively.
•Familiarity with cabling techniques and equipment operation, including forklifts and backhoes.
•Strong attention to detail with the ability to document findings accurately.
•Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
•Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while adhering to safety protocols.
•Previous experience as a service technician or in a construction environment is a plus.
