Pipe Yard Operator & Class 3 Driver

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Pipe Yard Operator & Class 3 Driver to join our team in Stonewall, Manitoba. This dual-role position involves working in our Pipe Yard operating a pipe loader machine, as well as driving company truck & trailers to deliver product to customers and pick up from suppliers within a 1–3 hour radius.

Key Responsibilities:

Pipe Yard Operator Duties:

- Operate either a Pettibone or Hyundai pipe loader machine to safely load and unload pipe from trailers.

- Organize and manage pipe inventory in the yard.

- Safely picks, packages, and tags pipe for orders, in a timely response;

- Record all product heat numbers and manufacturers

- Communicate any pipe shorts or errors directly to the Operations Manager;

- Assist in resolving the problems when required;

- May perform other activities such as assisting in inventory

- Assist with general yard maintenance and organization.

Driver Duties:

- Operate various company vehicles (Dodge 3500 automatic, Chevy 2500 automatic, & Freightliner FL 60 standard) and haul trailers carrying product.

- Deliver product to customers and pick up product from suppliers within a 1–3 hour driving range.

- Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with safety regulations.

- Operate a company vehicle in a professional & safe manner and follows all transportation laws;

- Perform duties in keeping with the traffic laws and company policies & procedures;

- Complete thorough and effective pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the truck;

- Strap and secure product on the bed of the truck & trailer and remove straps from loads;

- Manage delivery and pick-ups routes in the most efficient way;

- Drive to loading and unloading sites at Comco, customers, or supplier locations;

- Maintain records/logs as prescribed by the Ministry of Transportation and company policy;

- Adhere to all customers, suppliers, and Comco’s safety policies and procedures;

- Complete necessary delivery documentation accurately.

Requirements

- Driving Experience: 3 years of commercial driving in making deliveries and securing of loads;

- Heavy Equipment Experience: 1-2 years of working with a loader in yard moving product

- Class 3 License: Class 3 with excellent driving skills and a clean driving record (abstract to be provided);

- Excellent communication skills to deal with customers and suppliers;

- Able to read, write, and understand English;

- Able to read orders, bill of ladings, and understand product quantities;

- Able to wear the required PPE, provided by the company (Hard hat, steel toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc.).

- Outdoor work;

- Long periods of driving;

- Standing, walking, push or pull objects, climbing stairs/ladders, and ability to lift/carry heavy loads of up to and including 50lbs.
