The Pipe Welder/fitter is responsible for welding and fabricating a variety of parts, including pump components, both in the shop and on job sites as needed. The role requires proficiency with welding equipment, interpreting blue prints, engineering drawings, and specifications to fabricate and assemble metal structures or components.
· Weld and fabricate various parts using GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, Flux Core, cutting torches, and plasma cutters
-Perform with various machinery such as shears, brakes, slip roll, radial arm drill, ironworker, to form and fabricate parts/components.
· Produce esthetically pleasing welds with quality, accuracy, and adherence to specfications.
-Read and interpret blueprints and fabricate parts to acceptable tolerances
· Ensure safe operation of equipment and maintain a clean, organized workspace
· Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and technicians to complete projects
· Troubleshoot, design, and implement solutions for fabrication tasks
· Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
· Plan and prioritize tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines
· Occasionally assist field crews with on-site fabrication
· Collaborate with machinists, fabricators, engineers, and technicians to solve problems
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical vocational training in machining or welding is preferred.
- 3 years proven experience as a pipe welder/fitter preferred
- Knowledge of different welding techniques such as GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW and brazing
- Ability to do construction math, geometry, and trigonometry required to fabricate components accurately.
· Hands-on experience in welding and fabricating various metals
· Proficiency in reading blueprints and using measuring tools
· Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to work in compliance with them
· Valid North Carolina Driver’s License (NCDL) required
· Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (up to 4 hours between breaks)
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate cranes and forklifts for heavier objects
· Ability to work with hands and arms in physical tasks and stand, bend, and walk for extended periods
· Comfortable working in noisy and dusty conditions typical of a fabrication environment
· Perform responsibilities of the role during shop hours of M-F 7am to 5pm
