Packaging Specialist - 3rd Shift

Job Description

The Packaging Specialist maintains production and shipping schedules by processing incoming and outgoing customer orders, staging and preparing orders in appropriate production and shipping areas within the facility.

Essential Functions

- Collect, verify, and distribute Factory Work Orders (FWOs) and place them with the correct parts.

- Perform one or more packaging functions to prepare product storage or shipment. Functions include but are not limited to: filling, marking, labeling, banding, tying, packing.

- Operate wrapping machine, or manually wrap product when necessary.

- Label containers, container tags in preparation for shipment.

- Coordinate the packing process, set up packing equipment and obtain the proper packaging container(s) per the work order list.

- Work together as a team to maintain production schedule and objectives.

- Verify container counts (e.g., number of boxes, bins, skids and other containers).

- Identify parts, and group together pans, boxes and other containers that go with each FWO.

- Operate and inspect forklifts and material handling equipment.

- Ensures all products are shipped or stored properly and counted accurately.

- Process shipping paperwork as needed.

- Ensures shipping labels placed correctly on product.

- Load/unload trucks and shipping containers when necessary.

- Help maintain inventory accuracy rate, shipment picking and inventory counts.

- Adheres to company safety policies and OSHA standards.

- Maintains a safe, neat, orderly accident-free work environment, including all warehouse work areas, aisles, trucks, etc.

- Inventories bag stock, film wrap, chipboard, and hoods.

- Preserves equipment for continued use by completing pre-use inspections and reporting any issues.

- Handle all cargo safely.

Qualifications:

- 1+ years materials handling experience

- Proficiency in operating tow motor / forklift

- Ability to perform heavy lifting and packaging tasks

- Familiarity with scanners and order picking procedures

- Previous experience in manufacturing or warehouse supervision

- A valid drivers license and personal vehicle is required to transport self between facilities as needed

- Comfortable working in a high-energy, results focused environment

- Basic proficiency in English required (reading, writing, and speaking)

Supervisory Responsibility

- This role has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment

- This job operates in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the Packaging Specialist is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The performance of this position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, and other PPE as needed. The noise level is moderate.

Physical Demands

- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

- While performing the duties of this job, the Packaging Specialist is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and sitting. The individual must frequently lift and move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

- This is a full-time position. Days and typical hours are primarily Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed.

- 3rd Shift: 10:45pm-7:00am

Transportation Requirements

- Packaging Specialist must have dependable transportation. This position may require a 15-mile commute between our two Ohio locations, when necessary, but it is not a daily expectation. The mileage is reimbursable.

Education and Experience

- No education is required for this position.

- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

- Tow-motor/Forklift experience required.
