Key Accountabilities
Operating Packaging Machines Operate packing machines and palletizers at maximum efficiency. Load and/or unload flatbed trucks, vans, rail cars, trailers and pallets with correct product and quantity according to bill of lading. Operate forklift to load products into trucks and boxcars. Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment. Resolve routine questions and problems. Set-up machine and bagging according to customer specifications and packaging schedule. Perform daily safety and mechanical inspections of work area and equipment. Submit work orders to Maintenance Department using appropriate programs (e. g. Maintracker). Accurately complete paperwork and follow sample procedures per Quality System. Report immediately any accidents, safety violations, acts of insubordination, thefts, etc. to immediate supervisor. May assist in orienting and training new employees under the direct supervision of Senior or Lead Packer. Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain safe working conditions and practices to achieve a zero (0) lost time injury record within the area of responsibility. Ensure that work areas are kept in clean, safe and orderly condition at all times. Enforce all Company safety regulations. Perform work duties in accordance with Omya Quality Systems Manual procedures.

Excellent command of both oral and written local language is required.Ability to work any shift and overtime.

Education
High School / Vocational, preferably in a technical field
Experience
Minimum 1 year experience in packaging and receive a minimum score of 35 on evaluation
Knowledge and skills
Skills in following areas: packaging and mobile equipment used in the department and/or operating forklifts and industrial equipment.Mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills. Good mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and verbal form.Ability to work effectively with supervisors and other personnel. Be receptive to learning and developing new procedures and skills. Computer literate with basic skills to input work orders in Maintracker, use Lotus Notes and operate industrial PLC programs.Ability to work in hard environmental conditions, including ability to work physically including reaching, climbing, lifting heavy objects, moving on and off forklift and various other physical activities required for the job.
