THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tundra is excited to announce an opportunity for a Battery Operator, based out of the Virden area.

The main responsibility of a Battery Operator is to ensure consistent operation of their assigned facilities. The successful incumbent must be fully qualified and is required to have or gain a full working knowledge in all aspects of battery, vapour recovery unit, boost pumps, compressors, and pumping well performance evaluation.


REPORTS TO: Production Foreman


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

- Monitoring daily battery production

- Coordinating shutdowns and field start ups

- Coordinating various work and maintenance crews

- Issuing permits and overseeing contractors and crews when necessary

- Entering all battery data into PVR

- Monitoring well testing

- Assisting with turnarounds as required

- Reporting spills, near misses, and completing hazard ID’s

- Providing insight and sharing opinions at Safety and Operational meetings

- Conducting daily inspections of facilities and equipment

- Participating in commissioning and handover of new equipment in assigned fields

- Monitoring controllable costs and waste reduction

- Providing input on new facilities construction

- Participating in Hazops for new commissioning

- Ensuring oil is clean for marketing

- Maintaining assigned company trucks and tools.

- Responding to call outs and emergency alarms if applicable


WHAT YOU NEED:


- High School Diploma, or equivalent

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license

- Minimum of two (2) years’ field operating experience

- Full working knowledge of battery facilities, compressors, and water injection systems

- Have or gain a basic understanding of flow process and emergency shut down keys

- Basic mathematical abilities are required

- Computer skills are considered an asset

- Strong mechanical aptitude

- Strict adherence to the safety accountabilities as per Tundra's Safety Policy

- Willingness to achieve certification in:

- H2S Alive Certificate

- First Aid/ CPR

- ATV Safety Course

- WHMIS

- TDG

- SAIT Production Field Operator Training

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- This position is field-based, and the successful candidate will be expected to work in all types of weather.

- Must reside within a 45-minute drive of the assigned field

- Required to drive to a variety of work sites using company vehicles including all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, etc.

- Required to be on call

- May be required to lift items weighing up to 25 kilograms or more

- Work under minimal supervision

- Must conform to facial hair standards for wearing respiratory protective equipment as required by Enform

- Exposure to potential hazards e.g. toxic chemicals such as hydrogen sulfide

- Required to work under stress and to handle emergency situations
