We are hiring a Full Time Permanent Water OperatorI to work at our Rio Verde, AZ wastewater plant.
This individual will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and control of water plants, booster stations, reservoirs, wells, wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, and all other associated water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection facilities. They will monitor operations by analyzing chemical processes, inspecting facility equipment, and utilizing telemetry systems to verify and ensure compliance with industry performance standards. Additionally, they will perform various functions in plant process control.
The role includes participating in the operation, maintenance, control, and repair of all related plant process equipment, such as pumps, blowers, air scrubbers, motors, chemical feed systems, sludge pumping and dewatering equipment, and basic laboratory instruments. The individual will ensure that treated water and effluent meet current County, State, and EPA standards.
What you’d be responsible for:
•Conducts daily equipment and process inspections.
•Obtains samples and performs various tests.
•Determines proper chemical feed rates, calculates dosing requirements, and adjusts pump settings accordingly.
•Maintains chemical inventory and requests new or replacement orders as needed.
•Operates, monitors, and adjusts all related plant process equipment, including chemical pumps.
•Monitors and operates telemetry systems.
•Assists in the safe unloading and storage of chemicals and changes chlorine cylinders as required.
•Must pass a full-face respirator mask fit test and receive medical clearance for wearing respirators.
•Adjusts equipment, performs lubrication and minor repairs, and reports any equipment issues; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of all facilities.
What’s required to be successful:
•Must have at least one year of experience in the operation of water and/or wastewater facilities.
•Candidate must have a minimum of ADEQ Grade 1 Wastewater Treatment certification at the time of hire.
•Must have knowledge of all aspects of water and wastewater treatment operations.
•Knowledge of safety practices in the operation of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment used in water and wastewater facilities.
•A working knowledge of the operation of light, medium, and specialty utility repair equipment is needed.
•Must be able to work rotating schedules, including nights and weekends as required.
•Ability to perform accurate arithmetic computations.
•Ability to perform standardized water and wastewater analyses; familiarity with drinking water rules and regulations.
•Ability to read and interpret meters, charts, gauges, and recording devices.
•Ability to use both hand and power tools.
•Required to move objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
•Able to continually lift, bend, climb stairs, and work with mechanical hand tools.
•Ability to work outdoors under all weather conditions, including the Phoenix area summer heat.
