McKay Metis Contracting is seeking an experience Equipment Operator! This is a camp position working with one of our growing Oil Sand client contracts. The shift for this position is a 14 days on, 14 days off rotation working 12 hour days, with a half hour unpaid lunch.
Under general supervision, the operator will safely operate equipment to perform public works projects, road maintenance and construction activities. This an advanced position which involves considerable knowledge. The Heavy Equipment Operator position reports directly to the Superintendent and/or other designated leaders.
- Pre-employment drug & alcohol testing will be required.
- Labouring duties may also be required.
- Class 5 drivers license
- Experience operating 160M graders, loaders, and skid-steers.
- Skid-steer certificate
- H2S Alive certificate
- First Aid Certification -Level C
- Can constructs new road grades
- Ability to read and understand grade stakes
- Use sight perception and reasoning necessary to balance a grade and cut ditches to reasonable construction tolerance
- Performs any and all activities that can be performed with a Motor Grader.
- Capable of physical labour such as blade changing, culvert installation, walking ditch banks to read grade stakes.
- Reads and comprehends mathematics of construction grade stakes.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and physically able to perform all duties.
- Must be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be dependable and reliable.
- Successful completion of Company HSE Orientation and Client Site Specific Orientations as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Class five (5) Drivers License with Air Brake Endorsement is an assert.
- Minimum Class (5) Drives License required
- Clean 5-year Drivers Abstract.
- Ability to remain safety-focused and all follow safe work practices.
- Previous experience operating small and mobile equipment is preferred.
- Previous understanding and experience within a fuel and lube environment is an asset.
- Able to work in all weather and working site conditions.
- Ability to access all client sites as required.
- Physically able to complete the duties of the position.
- Successfully complete all pre-employment drug, alcohol, and physical abilities testing.
- 14 days on, 14 days off rotation working 12-hour days. Camp accommodations provided. No transportation to site provided.
