Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. is a leading asphalt supplier and marketer in the Inland Northwest and Pacific Northwest Regions. With plants in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, California, and Arizona, IAS supplies a diverse product line of asphalts, polymer-modified asphalt, and asphalt emulsions to the road maintenance and construction industry. IAS is looking for an energized and flexible self-starter to fill a full-time opening for an Operator 2 or Operator 3 at our Billings, MT facility.


Position Overview:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for loading and unloading of products, AC (asphalt concrete), and PMA’s (polymer-modified asphalt).


Position Responsibilities:

All Level 1 duties.
Ability to perform scale operations.
Dispatch and Bill of Lading (BOL) generation.
Knowledge of dilutes and medium curing (MC) production.
Tank transfers and blending.
Knowledge of chemical unloading.
Assist with mill and boiler operations.
Ability to perform basic maintenance.
Trains/leads Operator 1.


Required Skills/Abilities:


To be a strong fit for this opportunity you will have:

Must be First Aid certified within 90-days of hire.
A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
One (1) year of related experience/education/certification.
Previous work experience, especially in the areas of manufacturing or production. We are willing to train candidates who are eager to learn and want to launch a career with Idaho Asphalt Supply.
The ability to perform basic arithmetic operations accurately (add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages).
Communicate in English (orally and in writing).
Strong customer focus.
The ability to learn quickly and be able to perform job duties within 60 days of hire.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Local candidates preferred.


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift, carry, pull, and/or push or otherwise move 25/50/80 pounds daily/frequently.
Must be able to stand, walk, and climb daily/frequently.
Must be able to walk on, or work on an open grated catwalk 50 feet high.
Must be able to carry a 3” x 20’ rubber asphalt hoses a distance of 120’ unassisted.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders daily/frequently to a height of 50 feet.
Must be able to work in a crouched position beneath transport trailers or rails cars for a minimum of 20 minutes at a time for up to 8 hours per day.
Must be able to work in enclosed or confined spaces (tanks).
Must be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach/working overhead occasionally.
Must be able to sit, with keyboard use/repetitive hand motion occasionally.
Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor in safe manner, work indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment and work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.
Must be able to wear personal protective gear on a daily basis.
