The Operator is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe execution of operational tasks according to the Operating Manual. Key responsibilities include performing installations, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on downhole tools including running Kinley Cutters and Calipers, Sondex Calipers, Downhole Cameras, and other related tools. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with Expro's policies, standards, and procedures, and in delivering high-quality service to our clients.
- The Operator will collaborate with team members, supervisors, and client representatives to ensure smooth and effective operations.
- Conduct field sales activities to promote Expro's services and develop client relationships.
- Undertake checks on all equipment for their compliance with Expro’s policies, standards, and procedures, and ensure they are technically correct for the operation being carried out.
- Attend and participate in toolbox talks and planning meetings when required.
- Work at bases in the preparation and return of equipment as needed.
- Liaise with client representatives in a professional manner to ensure the quality of service to the client.
- Communicate with Supervisor, team members, and operations department as necessary to ensure all aspects of the operations are discussed and effectively managed.
- Ensure completion of required documentation for company procedures, processes, and specific client requirements.
- Work with colleagues and Supervisor to complete required competencies for current and future roles.
- Actively adhere to all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct and Anti-Bribery policies, to ensure the highest ethical standards are maintained as well as compliance with applicable Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) policies, procedures, processes & systems.
- Operate downhole tools in a safe and efficient manner to collect accurate data.
- Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained and calibrated to industry standards.
- Communicate with clients and colleagues to ensure that work is completed according to specifications and expectations.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, documentation, and other deliverables as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Job Knowledge and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and field operations.
- Satisfactory results of pre-employment screenings (ie background check, drug/alcohol test, physical).
- Hands-on experience operating downhole data acquisition tools such as: Multi-arm caliper tools, downhole video cameras, noise and temperature logging tools, magnetic thickness or corrosion tools, production logging tools (PLT), Gamma-ray, CCL, and other standard e-line tools
- Familiarity with running tools on: electric line (e-line), Braided line, Slickline, Coiled tubing (CT).
- Ability to rig up and rig down logging equipment efficiently and safely.
- Experience in tool calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of well schematics and downhole conditions.
- Knowledge of pressure control equipment and surface gear.
- Proficiency in data acquisition software platforms (e.g., Warrior, WellCAD, or equivalent).
- Ability to interpret and explain log data to clients.
- Experience preparing post-job reports and tool performance summaries.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and in remote, high-stress environments.
- Professional attitude and strong customer service orientation.
- Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
