About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Operations Trainer will be responsible for supporting a Field Based Employee Training and Competency program to ensure field employees have the competencies required to complete their roles in a safe, responsible manner. The Operations Trainer will support the Central and Grande Prairie Regions. Periodic travel to Grande Prairie is required.
The candidate must reside locally within 70 kilometers of Leslieville, AB
Job functions will involve:
•Facilitate reviews of existing General Operating Procedures, Site Operating Procedures, and Safe Working Procedures with operations/maintenance staff. Track and report compliance of updates based on the pre-determined review schedule
•Consult with Operations/Maintenance staff in the development of new procedures as required
•Complete capability assessments on individual field staff to assure competency in completing job tasks
•Track and schedule safety training in coordination with the HSE team, in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Instruct or co-ordinate mandatory training such as H2S or First Aid
•Track and report on completion of employee and contractor safety orientations
•Assist in training of regulatory requirements of the oil and gas industry (examples include AER, ABSA, AEPEA approvals)
•Assist in ERP training and facilitate man down drills, including tracking of attendance
•Recommend, source, and schedule approved specialty training for employees
•Reporting key metrics/performance indicators to field management
•Administer Respiratory Fit Testing
Required Skills & Qualifications:
•Minimum 10 years of practical experience in operations and maintenance of oil and gas production wells and facilities
•High school diploma or equivalent is required
•Valid H2S and First Aid certifications
•4th Class Power Engineering and/or completed GPO/PFO certificate is required
•Previous experience in a similar role would be an asset
•Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field is an asset
•Working knowledge of legislated training requirements for oil and gas industry
•Background or experience in HSE or regulatory fields would be an asset
•Strong organizational skills
•Excellent verbal and written communications skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills required
•Must be highly organized with the ability to manage a demanding workload in a fast-paced environment
•Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Time management and organizational effectiveness are critical to this position
•Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, along with the ability to learn, adhere and work with all company-based software programs and processes
•Previous experience with a learning management system would be an asset
•Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
•The successful candidates will work a 9/80 shift (Monday to Friday, with every other Friday off)
