Operations Support Process Engineer
The Operations Support Process Engineer is the key engineering point of contact for Divert’s Operations teams. The role is critical in ensuring transparent, two-way communication between Operations and central Engineering as well as consistent implementation of best practices across all Divert’s facilities.
What you’ll do:
The Operations Support Process Engineer owns communication and resolution tracking for process performance issues.
•Process Oversight & Issue Identification
•Monitor and review the technical performance of key systems, including the anaerobic digesters, RNG production, air scrubbers, centrifuges, and automated equipment.
•Detect and report any deviations or malfunctions to the appropriate subject matter experts and Plant Director.
•Prioritization & Action Planning
•Assess the criticality of identified issues based on their potential impact on safety, production, or regulatory compliance.
•Develop and maintain a prioritized action item list, ensuring prompt attention to the most urgent matters and tracking and communicating frequently all issues through resolution.
•Serve as the on-site point of contact between Plant Operations and centralized or external SMEs in:
•Controls/Automation – reviewing PLC/SCADA data and ensuring system reliability.
•Biological Processes – coordinating with microbiologists to maintain optimal digester conditions.
•Mechanical/Chemical Systems – working with mechanics and chemical engineers on equipment performance, component integrity, and chemical usage.
•Clearly communicate on-site strategies and constraints to specialized teams, enabling rapid and accurate troubleshooting.
•Lead technical investigations of process failures to determine root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
•Issue a written summary of these technical investigations so future failures and incidents can be understood and reported to engineering SME and Plant Operations for other preventative actions.
•Communication & Collaboration
•Provide concise, regular updates to management and cross-functional teams regarding process performance, technical issues, and resolution timelines.
•Ensure clear, efficient coordination between on-site personnel, external technical vendors, and subject matter experts.
What You’ll Need:
•Bachelor degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
•5+ years experience working in a processing facility.
•Exceptionally strong communication skills, written, verbal and relationship building.
•Ability to travel up to 15% to facilities across the US.
