Key Areas of Responsibility
•Coach Operators and Supervisors on what good and safe operational practices are.
•Participate in daily site planning and pre-start meetings, Work with Managers and Supervisors to increase quality of the meetings with respect to relative information, gathering data and sharing of general industry knowledge and good pas experiences.
•Work with staff and contractors on building or rewriting procedures, standards and other operational procedures.
•Review work assignments and job scopes with relevant site leadership and operations personnel and help identify and fix gaps that may be present
•Participate in monthly Plant Safety Meetings and Operational Meetings and give advice based on experience..
•Provide hands-on support and coaching to site personnel to promote individual operational knowledge and understanding for each of member of the Turbines team.
•Promote compliance to EDL Permit to Work, Lock Out Tag Out, Workplace Risk Assessment and Control, Job Safety Hazard Analysis and Rule to Live By processes.
•Support and coach the development and review of EDL and contractor site Risk Assessments, with a focus on quality and content.
•Provide support and coaching to site personnel relating to key EDL HSE Management System documents (including but not limited to Permit to Work, Lock Out Tag Out, Risk Management, Signage and Barricading, Contractor HSE Management).
•Any other duties assigned by the Combined Cycle General Manager appropriate to the level and responsibility of the position.
Person Specification
•Experienced Operations professional with Combined Cycle knowledge. Operational experience with compressors, blowers media beds.
•Well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills both oral and written, with the ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders.
•Self-motivated and able to proactively undertake routine and non-routine tasks with professionalism and minimal supervision, demonstrating effective time management and organisational skills.
•Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
•Proven team player and the ability to respond to and deliver change and contribute to a continuous improvement culture.
•Strong prioritisation skills, with an ability to identify and re-prioritise tasks to meet business needs.
•High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
•This position will be based in Johnston, Rhode Island but there could be a possibility of some travel to the Brea facility in California.
Qualifications and Experience
•Minimum of 5 years site-based experience working in a safety/HSE role.
•Experience working with high-risk activities in an oil and gas/energy operations environment.
•Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (or working towards).
•Professional accreditation or in progress accreditation (preferred) (i.e. ASP, CSP or CHST).
•Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and delivering HSE training.
•Strong understanding of current OSHA legislation, standards, codes and industry best practice.
•Experience leading incident investigations using formal incident investigation (RCA) methodology.
•Demonstrated experience participating in and leading Safety Management System Audits and inspections.
•Demonstrated understanding of core HSE processes, including Permit to Work, Lock Out Tag Out, Incident Investigation, Contractor HSE Management, Emergency Response, Risk Management and Training and Competency.
•Intermediate ability with MS Office – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Current and clean Drivers Licence (essential).
