Description Main Purpose:

Watch out for fire hazards in the workplace (Offshore) while work is performed by other employees.
Maintain the conditions and requirements stated on the safety permit.
Keep flammable materials from ignition sources.
In the event of fire, extinguish it immediately or turn a fire alarm on.
Establish effective communication to call 911, Control Room or Facility PA in the event of an emergency.
Stop operations if you identify any hazardous condition.


Essential Functions

Acting as a Safety Ambassador - Abiding by Spark Safety - Gulf Island / Client / Regulatory safety rules, policies, procedures & guidelines.
Proper staging & installation / removal / relocation of the Spark PWE and FR Spark Containment materials.
Identifying and informing the PWE Supervisor of all items needing repair, specifically noting problems that may cause immediate safety hazards.
Serve in the role of Fire Watch Attendant during hot work operations offshore.
Ensure all FR Barriers in the Line-of-Fire are wet-down prior to start-up of hot work and periodically throughout the stages of work.
Shall ensure Metal Tongs are always accessible to remain Hands-Free while transferring hot debris and materials into Catch Pans.
Shall ensure PPE that is required to be worn during Hot Work is available and always utilized during Hot Work operations: FRC clothing, steel toed boots, GI approved Leather Gloves, Safety Glasses & Face Shield.
Conducting hazard assessments prior to start-up of hot work and perform the following tasks: Remove all flammables / combustible materials in all hot work areas; Plugging and filling deck drains in all hot work areas; Install FR barriers in all line-of-fire locations; Staging FFE (Fire Fighting Equipment) in accessible locations.
Shall remain diligent during all phases of work to cool down hot materials throughout stages or work.
Shall ensure heat sources (cutting torch, welding) remain a safe distance from the PWE Panels during hot work.
Ensuring all Fire Fighting equipment is staged at all hot work locations, inspected & charged / ready for use (including water source: water hose, portable H2O extinguisher, etc.).
Ensuring hot work operations are monitored & managed with the upmost diligence.
Maintaining recordkeeping of all Fire Watch Logs.
Ensuring all Cooldown periods are conducted in hot work areas starting when the last arc is struck.
Ensuring work areas are maintained in a constant state of cleanliness & order.
Stop work and notify PWE Supervisor, Construction Supervisor & UWA if there is any change in work scope / Discovery Work that was not identified in the hot work plan or discussed during the JSEA review & Safety Meeting.
Make sure you and other employees are aware of the exact location of firefighting equipment in the immediate area.
Maintain constant means of communication.
As much as possible, keep visual and voice contact with other employees.
Before and during each shift, inspect the entire work area and look for potential release of flammable vapors or liquids.
Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors, and hose carts anytime.

Requirements Physical Requirements:

Lifting: employees must lift 25-50 pounds and occasionally 75 pounds.

Environmental Conditions

Work performed outdoors mainly on offshore structures.
