The Network Engineer IV serves as a technical leader within the field network team, driving forward-looking network designs, ensuring secure and reliable operations, and mentoring junior staff. This role is critical to supporting ICS, Automation, Drilling, and other business unit network services with a focus on performance, safety, and compliance.
- Champion environmental protection, health, and safety as top priorities in all operations.
- Lead field network technical strategy, architecture, and operations for secure, performant, and efficient end-to-end services.
- Mentor junior engineers and actively shape the team’s strategic direction.
- Partner with business units to align on deadlines, objectives, and deliverables.
- Manage the full lifecycle of network projects, including planning, budgeting, execution, procurement, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Optimize field network operations by focusing on people, processes, and technology.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network infrastructure incidents using IT Service Management tools; escalate as needed.
- Schedule and implement formal change requests (firmware updates, security patches, configuration changes).
- Develop and maintain solution documentation, provide cross-training, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Deliver solutions for complex integration and connectivity issues across diverse technologies.
- Collaborate with IT leadership, managers, and stakeholders to improve operations and develop action plans.
- Prepare written and verbal reports, presentations, and timely status updates for management.
- Keep customer base informed of network changes, issues, and updates.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, including after-hours and weekend support.
- Model a strong work ethic, adaptability, and initiative on multiple high-priority projects.- 8+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with at least 3+ years in a senior or lead role.
- Proven experience supporting ICS/OT, Automation, or Drilling environments in the oil & gas industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered
- CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent advanced networking certifications preferred.
- Willingness to be on 24/7 call rotation, including nights/weekends.
- Must be based in Brownfield/Midland, TX area.
