The Network Engineer is a key member of the IT Infrastructure team at Clearway Energy Group (CEG). The Network Engineer is responsible for managing our campus and office networks, datacenters, and public clouds. Additional responsibilities include network security, network configuration, network design and optimization, administering network monitoring/management tools, producing technical documentation, developing automation, fault/problem resolution, hardware lifecycle management, and the implementation of network security solutions. These include corporate offices, datacenters, and wind and solar power generation plants owned and/or managed by CEG. The Network Engineering team ensures that this critical infrastructure is secure, highly available, right-sized, and compliant with all regulatory guidelines by which CEG is governed.

- Deploy, configure, and maintain Cisco Enterprise, Palo Alto, and more firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless networks
- Develop configuration templates, upgrade procedures, and network modification standards via scripting/automation.
- Assist with integrating multi-region Azure public clouds into our existing hybrid datacenter/cloud networks
- Configure and tune our existing SD-WAN links
- Research new technologies such as network security, network virtualization, WAN acceleration, and long-distance wireless connectivity, and cloud computing
- Manage network monitoring systems and tools such as SolarWinds, MRTG, Cisco DNA, Cisco Defense Orchestrator, Wireshark, Cisco ISE, Cisco WOM, IPAM, and Umbrella
- Day-to-day network security event investigation and risk remediation, including Firmware Patching and Vulnerability Remediation
- Manage existing hardware, identify, and budget for replacements, plan and execute hardware refresh
- Network performance auditing and performance tuning (DIA, MPLS, cellular, satellite, and fixed wireless circuits)
- Optimize dynamic routing strategy/network security, and identify areas of improvement
- Oversee public cloud network performance and identify areas of improvement
- Audit and assess existing failover, HA, and network redundancy strategies
- Assist the department head in developing a robust documentation program
- Implement and maintain WAN and VPN technologies: Client VPN, IPSEC site-to-site tunnels, FlexVPN, Cisco SDWAN
- Manage incoming ticket queue for general support, network alerts, LAN/WAN improvement, and plant development
- Assist with network documentation, segmentation, routing, and firewall rule clean-up and standardization
- Proactively recognize and document business process gaps while identifying potential areas of improvement
- Review and participate in developing project deliverables for both IT Infrastructure and Plant Operations initiatives
- Work closely with the following teams: Cybersecurity, IT Applications, Plant Operations, and Facilities
- Maintain appropriate status reports, meeting minutes, and follow up with business partners, vendors, and internal resources
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a similar field is preferred. Significant experience in key Information Technology competencies will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- This position requires the skills roughly associated with a CCNP.
This role requires expert-level knowledge of the following:
- Networking concepts (i.e., Firewalls, VLANs and VLAN tagging, IP subnetting, IP routing, etc.).
- Encryption technologies (i.e. SSL, TLS, VPNs, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
- Enterprise experiences working with Cisco and Palo Alto.
- Proficient with various research methods and troubleshooting techniques.
- Storage Area Networks and Storage replication technologies.
- Understanding of disaster recovery principles.
This role requires a strong working knowledge of the following:
- Network Load Balancing
- Data center facilities (i.e., power, UPS, cooling, etc.)
- Capacity and resource planning capabilities and knowledge of associated relevant tools
- Knowledge of data center security policies and procedures, penetration testing, and methods of auditing
- Strong incident management skills.
- Regulatory compliance experience
- Exceptional work ethic and time management skills
- Ability to work well independently and/or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time, and on short notice.
- Participate in after-hours on-call rotation as necessary for problem resolution, and project management/installations.
- Knowledge of scripting, along with network task automation, is desired.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks. Experience with NERC-CIP compliance is preferred.
- Troubleshooting ability with TCP/IP packet sniffing and analysis tools is preferred.
- CCNA or CCNP certification is preferred.
- 3 to 4 years of experience designing, implementing, administering, and supporting a network in an enterprise environment
