General Description:
The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 150 tons in support of oilfield construction, maintenance, and logistics operations on the North Slope of Alaska. This role demands strict adherence to safety standards, situational awareness, and the ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

•Operate hydraulic and/or lattice boom cranes under 150-ton capacity to lift, move, and position loads.
•Perform pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance on cranes to ensure safety and functionality.
•Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material in a petrochemical facility or on construction projects in Arctic conditions. Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved. Ability to analyze weather conditions and recognize hazards prior to the start of work.
•Communicate with riggers and signalpersons using standard hand signals and radios.
•Read and interpret load charts, lift plans, and job-specific instructions.
•Maintain accurate daily equipment logs and inspection checklists.

•Maintain compliance with the required HSE Training.
•Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
•Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
•Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements, Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives.
•Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
•Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
•Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
•Promote and participate in Safety Programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of crane equipment along with the training necessary to perform standard rigging procedures. Possess applicable training as prescribed by the company, client and OSHA.
•Proficient in equipment and rigging for daily, monthly and annual inspections, required to meet company, client and industry specifications/standards.
•Ability to attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps. Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook. Sets up, braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
•Knowledge of rigging devices and components such as wire ropes, chains, slings, hooks, sockets, thimbles, spreader bars, sheaves, pulleys and lifting equipment.
•Knowledge of the standard methods of safely rigging and lifting equipment and materials such as structural steel, pipe conduit, vessels, rotating equipment, heaters, etc.
•Knowledge of proper use and care for tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial construction project such as chain falls, jacks, slings, chokers, shackles, clips, etc.
•Ability to read and interpret safety manuals and warning signs, drawings, specifications, rigging diagrams and lifting capacity charts for equipment and load carrying parts.
•Skilled in oral communication.
•Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions and task
•Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
•Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
•Ability to prepare a detailed time sheet/log of daily work assigning proper coding for invoicing purposes.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
•High School diploma or equivalent
•NCCCO Crane Operator Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
•Previous North Slope or Artic region work experience
•Rigging school certification is preferred.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors. This position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.
Physical Requirements:

A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. •MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
•HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
•VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
•LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
•RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurements will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
