Summary
Reporting to Superintendent, Mine Engineering, the Mine Engineer is responsible for creating and updating short term detailed mine plans and supporting the safe production of the mine.
Responsibilities
•Generate and maintain detailed weekly mine plans that align with mid-range and long-range planning objectives. Ensure weekly plans are feasible and executable for mine operations.
•Monitor and refine short-range planning processes to improve operational execution and productivity. Identify and address potential risks or inefficiencies in the weekly planning process.
•Regularly update haulage times and ensure they are within specified thresholds of actual cycle times. Utilize updated haulage data to improve the accuracy of short-range mine planning.
•Act as the primary liaison between mid-range planners, long-range planners, and mine operations teams.
•Compile and distribute daily and weekly production reports to technical services, mine operations supervisors, and the mine manager.
•Provide input and feedback on mine design and development strategies to enhance operational efficiency and achieve production goals.
Education & Experience
•B.Sc. Engineering in Mining or relevant equivalent
•Able to register as an EIT with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
•Mine design software experience, such as MineSite an asset
•Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the operation
•Exposure to project coordination and ability to make sound project decisions
•Effective leadership to build a strong employee culture
•Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements
•Valid Canadian Driving License.
Working Conditions
•Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on 14 X 14 work schedule, 12 hours per day.
•Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 10-12 hours in duration.
•Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
•Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James, Mackenzie and Smithers.
