GMS is looking to add a Mine Engineer in Carlsbad, NM. This position is a 5 on, 2 off, 4 on, 3 off schedule 5AM to 2PM. Pay will be based off industry knowledge. $100 per diem for each day worked.
Reporting to the Mine Engineering Manager, this position is to assist with the coordination, scheduling, cost control and planning of the mine operations. The qualified candidate will be accountable for providing safe and effective mine engineering services, including but not limited to Mine Design and Layout, Mine Ventilation Design and reporting, Environmental Conditions Monitoring, and Rock mechanics evaluation and data retrieval. This role is a critical interface with Maintenance, Capital, Management, Mine Development and Mine Production groups.
Excellent Leadership, communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact with respective Supervisors/Contractors, Engineers and Planners. Underground supervisory experience is an asset. Able to incorporate risk analysis in all work assigned. Experience in Potash Mining is an asset.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a major in Civil, Environmental, Mining or related engineering discipline required
· Underground mining and heavy construction experience with exposure to environmental and safety compliance and management elements. Demonstrated engineering and design experience.
· Microsoft Office experience required. Emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
· Experienced with Mine Ventilation, Rock Mechanics and Mine Design
