The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Powerhouse Mechanic
Greenstone Mine is seeking a Powerhouse Mechanic to join our team. Reporting to the Mill Mechanical Supervisor, the Powerhouse Mechanic is responsible for providing repairs, overhauls, on our site Wartsila 20V34SG Natural Gas Fueled Generators.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
•Maintains the powerhouse, consisting of 7 ea. Wartsila 20V34SG engines, performing maintenance on all powerhouse auxiliary and support systems; cleans, lubricates parts, equipment and machinery as needed.
•Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs; repair, replace, adjust, align components of machinery and equipment.
•Troubleshoot equipment and examines parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear; utilize hand tools, instruments and hydraulic tools to complete repairs and maintenance.
•Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition.
•Maintain current knowledge of natural gas engines, turbochargers, fuel systems pumps and injectors, lube system pumps and filtration, cooling water system, combustion charge air system.
•Interact with a variety of employees on the property such as operators, engineering, trades and operating supervision on methods, procedures, and hazards in order to coordinate the services of other trades and service personnel in the planning of their portion of the job; tests, evaluates and observes operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
•Maintain an accurate record of repairs and maintenance performed; tracks and places orders and requisition for parts and materials needed to complete job effectively; completes daily paperwork for engine data and performance.
•Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards found.
•Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
•Perform operational equipment checks.
•Follow health and safety policies to ensure safety and environmental protection.
•Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing maintenance requirements.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
•5+ years of relevant professional work experience
•High school education/General Education Diploma (GED) or combination of education and pertinent work-related experience.
•Journeyperson Trade Certificate as Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Industrial Mechanic/Millwright.
•Dual trade designation/certification is considered an asset.
•TSSA Gas Technician G1 or G2 certification is highly desirable.

•This position will be based in Geraldton, Ontario.
