Hiring Salary Range: $132,100 - $198,200 Compensation is determined by a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, and certifications. The actual offer may vary, reflecting the candidate's unique blend of experience, educational background, and skill level.
This position will provide the leadership for all maintenance activities, including preventive and predictive maintenance procedures. Ensure that data acquisition systems are maintained and updated with current history. Enable training for division personnel so skill levels are maintained and increased. Manage and coordinate all maintenance and capital projects relative to specific area of responsibility. Coordinate all Information Technology related upgrades/projects at the facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
STATION PERFORMANCE
- Provide for the safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities.
- Lead in the development of improved maintenance practices.
- Prepare and implement departmental budgets in compliance with station and DPC requirements.
- Bring to Site management’s attention opportunities to achieve lower cost station maintenance, as well as planned corrective or supportive actions through improved maintenance policies or technologies.
- Further the development and utilization of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to better facilitate maintenance policies or technologies.
- Keep Site management continuously apprised of conditions concerning station maintenance, as well as planned corrective or supportive actions.
- Act as a member of the plant management team to evaluate, recommend and implement procedures and initiatives that provide for the efficient operation and maintenance of the station.
- Utilize approved work processes across their reporting departments to meet station goals on a monthly basis.
- Interacts daily with forepersons and staff; supporting and reinforcing the approved work processes – usually 1-2 hours per day. Ensure that maintenance personnel are performing to the best of their abilities by setting and communicating expectations consistent with station annual goals.
- Identify opportunities to maximize the use and effectiveness of the CMMS to facilitate better maintenance processes at the site
- Provide oversight of/adherence to applicable NERC/CIP requirements.
- Provide direction, concept and course of actions as required for continual work process improvement. Champion the work process improvement initiative in accordance with guidelines established by the Site Steering Committee.
- Be visibly committed to and actively involved in safety at all levels. Evaluate the quantity and quality of safety efforts of direct reports. Be engaged and focused on making your front-line supervisors successful in safety. Create a positive and continuous improvement culture and ensure that employees are not complacent. Participate in giving safety meetings and training, participate in job safety briefings/tailgates and observe/coach your supervisors/direct reports on how to conduct a good, inclusive tailgate. Openly express support for safety professionals and make them a part of the team.
- Plans, develops and directs all plant maintenance functions and activities necessary to maintain and support continued safe, reliable and economic operation of the station with a multi-million-dollar annual budget.
- Ascertain training needs. Establish or utilize existing specific training programs for department personnel so that skill levels can be maintained and increased in accordance with plant and division needs. Ensure that training materials and equipment are available, current and in good working order.
- Communicate and check for understanding of all station specific and company-wide information to department personnel.
- Ensure that all personal interactions on the job are consistent with DPC policies and values. Be a team player. Treat all with respect and dignity.
- Provide educational and training opportunities for direct reports to assist in their knowledge and understanding of their positions and responsibilities in achieving station and/or corporate goals.
- Conduct work performance counseling sessions with forepersons and other department leaders regarding performance not meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Ensure that department staff are adhering to all safety rules and requirements, including Department of Transportation and Coast Guard rule compliance.
- Administer personnel policies in accordance with company requirements.
- Select staff; provide coaching, counseling and direction to leaders within the department concerning issues of safety, company rules, policies and company news. Actively address rumors and mis-information and replace it with correct information on a timely basis
- Administer timely corrective or disciplinary action, in accordance with company policies and labor agreement, to department personnel whose performance does not meet expectations.
- Recognize department personnel for performance that meets or exceeds expectations.
- Actively seek the successful accomplishment of your direct reports’ roles and responsibilities by identifying and removing barriers of understanding, knowledge, procedure, communication, etc.
- Participate as a member of teams, as needed, to ensure successful utilization of the established Work Management Process by station personnel in addressing issues and developing solutions.
- Participate as a permanent member of the station’s Environmental Management Review Team, assisting in oversight, leadership and guidance as needed and ensuring conformance with the overall program.
- Participates in plant assessments (boiler, duct crawl through, etc.).
- Participate as a member of the Site Steering Committee and Safety Sub-committee as directed.
- Ensure all department personnel follow the approved work processes as established by the Site Steering Committee.
- Organize, lead and/or attend management meetings and other company functions as required.
- Evaluate Plans, develops and directs all plant maintenance functions and activities necessary to maintain and support continued safe, reliable and economic operation of the station with a multi-million-dollar annual budget. break-ins, scheduled compliance codes, PMs vs. reactive maintenance, root cause analysis (RCA), predictive maintenance programs, failure mode analysis and incident reporting root cause.
- Train and communicate DPC policy and corporate procedure to ensure understanding and compliance by direct reports.
- Provide challenging assignments and tasks to direct reports, which promote their personal growth and career development, leading to trust as independent decision makers
- Perform any and all other duties, tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned by authorized personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical or other relevant engineering field, or other relevant four-year degree, with a minimum of three (3) years experience in utility generation; one (1) year of which was in a position responsible for significant capital and/or operations and maintenance decisions or expenditures. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Skills
: Supervisory training, labor relations, including a working knowledge of the labor agreement and administration skills. Develop an awareness of pertinent government regulations. Any necessary training must be accomplished at the first available opportunity after hiring date. Knowledge of operations, maintenance, design and construction of steam-generating facilities and equipment; skilled in the management, organization and negotiation with and motivation of personnel. Computer literacy required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Professional Engineering license is desirable. Valid Driver’s License required.
Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, walking, crawling, lifting (up to 10 lbs.) and climbing (stairs, sky climber). Writing, seeing, hearing, speaking and dexterity. Ability to wear breathing apparatus (35 lbs.).
Environmental Demands: Works indoors, frequently in extreme noise, works at heights and occasionally enters confined spaces.
Other Job Characteristics:
On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Occasional off hours contact with site personnel required. Occasional/periodic work outside of normal work hours (weekends/evenings/nights) is required. Good verbal and written communications skills. Frequently interacts with vendors, co-workers, other power companies, insurance representatives and government agencies. Limited supervision. Team-oriented having variable tasks. Frequently high-paced and high-pressured to meet deadlines.
