Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No related work experience required.
- Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities for the position.
- Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Read meters both electronically and manually. Schedule driver routes and drive meter reading routes. Keep track of daily and weekly time schedules. Track vehicle maintenance, mileage, and safety.
This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
- Read water meters located in areas such as easements, offices, vaults, and meter boxes. Calculate and records consumption figures on reading documents.
- Examine and report meter registers for defects including missing, lose or broken hands, broken glass, meters not registering consumption, leaks at meter connections, missing seals, and broken or missing meter box covers.
- Maintain records of daily work including meter readings. Prepare service or repair orders and reread requests. Perform data entry of meter reading metrics regarding production.
- Monitor department supplies and clean and maintain garage and office equipment. Schedule preventative service maintenance of meter reading vehicles.
- Investigate excessive and unauthorized water usage and consumption variations. Enforce conservation practices.
- Train field service personnel with meter reading collection equipment, software instruction, route navigation, and documentation of meter reading processes.
- Operate motor vehicles courteously and safely exercising defensive driving skills.
- Perform minor Field Service work such as meter reads , install slugs, meter pit maintenance, and customer locates.
- Perform related work as required including shift work and a couple of weekends.
