Metallurgy and Quality Manager

POSITION TITLE: Metallurgy and Quality Assurance Manager

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Operations LOCATION: CXM Mill Division

DEPARTMENT: Operations

Position Summary:

· Manage the Quality Management System and Metallurgy departments by providing leadership and support.

· Work with Sales and Production regarding process changes, process improvements, customer quotations and product returns.

· Provide technical analysis, material performance and process troubleshooting for all CXM processes.

· Ensure the internal testing standards meet the needs of production and raw material operations and ultimately our Customers.

· Manage all ISO 9001: 2015 system requirements as the ISO Management Representative

DUTIES and EXPECTATIONS of the POSITION:

· Within the Quality Management System; manage and perform internal audits, internal and external corrective actions, process improvements and the gage calibration & maintenance system

· Ensure certifications of conformance are accurately completed saved as part of the Customer records

· Train Laboratory Technicians and others in lab testing and procedures.

· Maintain industry specifications and ensure products meet the applicable spec

· Evaluate and ensure proper testing and inspection is performed on incoming scrap, cast billets and finished product dimensions & requirements

· Evaluate and ensure all core processes are in-control and effective. Perform improvement projects as needed

· Develop processes for new alloys; test and ensure new alloy key process parameters are effectively developed, adjusted and maintained for all core processes

· Provide technical support internally and externally as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

· Strong communication skills, organizing and leadership skills.

· Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering.

· Minimum of 5 years of metal manufacturing experience.

· 3 to 5 years of experience managing Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001:2015.

· Strong experience with process troubleshooting using effective problem solving tools for analysis and improvements

· Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $73,400.59 - $88,396.41 per year
