REPORTS TO: Shop Floor Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY: This role is responsible for straightening shafts, flat stock, and plate stock, as well as polishing welds and weldments to remove mill marks and achieve a clean, finished appearance. The technician will also perform tapping and countersinking of holes as part of the finishing process.
Key Responsibilities:
•Straighten metal parts including shafts, flat stock, and plate stock using appropriate tools and methods.
•Polish welds, weldments, and surfaces to remove mill marks and prepare parts for finishing or delivery.
•Perform tapping and countersinking of holes per engineering specs or shop instructions.
•Inspect finished parts for straightness, finish quality, and proper hole geometry.
•Operate hand tools, grinders, polishers, presses, and other shop equipment safely and efficiently.
•Maintain clean and organized work area.
•Collaborate with welders, machinists, and supervisors to ensure quality standards are met.
Qualifications:
•Previous experience in a machine shop or metal fabrication environment preferred.
•Familiarity with metal straightening and polishing techniques.
•Ability to read basic blueprints or shop drawings.
•Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
•Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Work Schedule & Compensation
•Shift: First Shift, Monday–Friday
•Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
•Breaks: Includes one 10-minute paid break and a 15-minute paid lunch per shift
