Purpose of Role:Weir Marine Engineering has a requirement for a Metadata Specialist to assist our clients in the Department of National Defence (DND) with their quest towards a scalable and efficient Master Data Management (MDM) solution. This challenging position involves working closely with our DND clients, but can be performed remotely (telework). As such, the position could be based in different locations, including Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax or Montreal. The initial requirement is for a contract to 31 March 2026, but it is expected that the contract will subsequently be renewed annually for one or more years. Although this opportunity is aimed at a consultant/contractor, an employment arrangement could also be considered.

+ MS Purview; + MS Power BI; + Experience with MS Fabric would be an asset; and + Working knowledge of a scripting language, such as Python, would be an asset.
+ Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts, data lakes, data marts and technology, including AWS, cloud DB, data integration patterns, analytics and business intelligence; + Advanced knowledge of data governance technology, business process modeling, metadata, data lineage, master data management, data classification, and data quality; and + Experience with the DND/CAF and/or in the defence industry would be an asset.
+ Dynamic person with the ability to work under pressure on a large, complex, long term project; + Good at listening, guiding and mentoring; + Fast learner who can absorb and understand the project landscape and constraints, and delve into the technologies being considered to meet the project requirements; + Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written); and + Motivated and takes pride in their work.
