Overview
This position performs engineering work which supports various plant functions and requires application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Exercise of professional judgment is required in the performance of the assigned tasks.
The position will be filled based on the successful candidate's education and experience level: Engineer I, II, III or Principal.
Responsibilities
•Identifies opportunities for improvement of plant equipment availability and reliability.
•Performs engineering assignments associated with the design, construction, performance enhancement, cost effectiveness, operation, and maintenance of various plant equipment and systems.
•Effectively manage the full scope of assigned Capital and O&M projects including adhering to safety, schedule, budget, and scope. Provide detailed tracking and status updates of projects to management and budget analysts.
•Performs assignments in which evaluation, originality, ingenuity, decision-making, and authority.
•Supports various plant operations and maintenance groups with engineering based problem troubleshooting, identification, analysis, and resolution.
•Assists other Engineers with large and/or complex projects, as required.
•Assists with the development of station/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
•Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
•Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
•Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
•Directs the activities of coops, bargaining unit employees and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc.
•Performs other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications
Required Education
•ABET accredited Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineer is required.
Preferred Qualifications
•Ability to use formal engineering training in practical application to power plant assignments.
•Proficient oral and written communication skills
•Experience with troubleshooting and installation of low voltage and medium voltage switchgear, MCC, and relay protection
•Experience with Distributed Control Systems, PLC, and VFDs
