Marathon Petroleum Company’s El Paso Refinery is currently looking for a full-time Refinery Mechanical Integrity/Quality Control Inspector for the Inspection Group in the Maintenance Department. This position will report to the Maintenance Inspection Supervisor. Duties include ensuring the mechanical integrity of fixed & rotating equipment, maintaining the sites quality control program, and working closely with the refinery’s area and inspection teams. The schedule for this position will be a Monday to Thursday, 10-hour day schedule, must be available for weekend shifts and overtime as needed.
- Document inspection records, findings, and recommendations in Marathon’s Inspection Data Management System (IDMS). Completes all required documentation and interprets and applies industry and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practice (RAGAGEP) codes and specifications. Maintains comprehensive inspection procedures, applicable guidelines, and work instructions. Coordinates inspection requirements for larger-scale projects in collaboration with Area Inspector, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Reliability departments.

- Understands critical process variables that affect equipment reliability, identifies gaps, and leads gap closure effort related to quality control.

- Ensure internal quality control programs for equipment as defined by the Mechanical Integrity Program to ensure that it is properly implemented.
- The QC Inspector reviews the welding and mechanical tasks performed by the contractor and maintenance personnel to ensure compliance to all applicable codes and standards.
- Review the quality program of all mechanical contractors and shop fabricators for compliance with the expectations established by the Division.
- Update welder performance log for MPC and review contract company’s welder log.
- Review ITPs for welding and bolting work for Routine Maintenance.
- Review the drawings and weld procedures of new fabrications.
- Review the ITPs submitted by the mechanical contractors for repairs made to equipment.
- Ensure equipment is ready for compliance inspections and request specific NDE per job requirements.
- Follow and document mechanical job packages for routine maintenance.
- Work is performed inside and outside, in differing climatic conditions, and around noises, heat, heights and equipment associated with working in and around an oil refinery.
- Must be able to perform work at ground level and at heights on concrete, metal grating, gravel, asphalt, and piping surfaces, while climbing and working in confined spaces.
- Able to wear all personal protective equipment (P.P.E.)
- Completed high school diploma or GED. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
- Minimum three (3) years of inspection/QC experience in Fixed Equipment, Reliability &/or Maintenance.
- Must be authorized to work in the US without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Completed bachelor's or associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Corrosion Technology, Welding
- Technology, or Non-Destructive Technology (NDT)
- Completed AWS CWI certification
- Completed API 570 certification
- Completed ANST Level II (UTT, RTFI, MT, PT) certifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Experience with Corrosion Monitoring-related software
