Overview:
The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment on an offshore or onshore oil and gas production platform. This role ensures optimal performance and reliability of critical systems, including generators, pumps, and compressors. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and experienced with oilfield mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
•Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment such as natural gas and diesel-powered generators, fire pumps, air compressors, centrifugal pumps, and positive displacement pumps.
•Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues; repair or replace faulty components on compressors, pumps, and generators.
•Conduct and document regular inspections and preventative maintenance activities in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
•Generate written or computerized purchase orders and maintain appropriate levels of spare parts and mechanical inventory.
•Create detailed work orders for support personnel performing installations, repairs, or testing.
•Accurately log maintenance, repair, calibration, and inspection records in handwritten logs or digital maintenance systems.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanics or a related field preferred.
•3+ years of mechanical experience in oil and gas or industrial environments.
•Proficient in maintaining and repairing generators, pumps, compressors, and related rotating equipment.
•Strong understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and troubleshooting techniques.
•Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders.
•Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
