Duties and Responsibilities:
•Responsible for maintenance and repairs on transport trucks, trailers, pickups and forklifts.
•Responsible for scheduling all shop maintenance functions.
•Orders all shop parts and maintains parts inventory. Both in shop and occasionally for terminals.
•Complete, log and maintain Annual Vehicle Inspection Reports for fleet power units and maintain Tanker Test and Inspection Reports for fleet tankers as required by sec. 180.417(b) & (c) of the Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations.
•Maintains material safety data sheets on all chemical products in shop facility.
•Maintains all DOT, maintenance, tire and vehicle inspection files for compliance.
•Prepares monthly computer reports - tire, mileage, m.p.g., and vehicle transfer report.
•Works under minimal supervision. Must be self directed.
•Must be available to participate in an on-call situation.
•Ensures proper DOT, state inspection and HAZMAT papers are included in the cab data book.
•May operate forklift and company pickup.
•Must be familiar with all safety procedures for working with engines, compressors, power tools, sparking tools and forklifts.
•May work in proximity to significant hazards (Hydrogen Sulfied (H2S), chemicals, high voltage, elevated heights, volatile liquids, etc.) which require safety accommodations and procedures.
•Ensure all equipment is up to date in accordance of the DOT and hazardous material (HAZMAT) regulations.
•Flexibility with other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.
•CDL preferred but not Required to do test drive and possibly deliver to yard
•Maintain clean and orderly workplace.
•Help with occasional call outs to terminals for mechanical issues that arise.
•Must have excellent communication skills
•Ability to work well with others.
