JOB DESCRIPTION: MASKING HELPER
A masking helper provides support to the plating lines by applying maskants to any area of various sized parts of metal (i.e. bolts, nuts, metal plates, etc.) as required by work orders prior to completing plating production and removes maskants after production. Masking helpers are also responsible for safe handling, storage, and disposal of the various hazardous materials used within the masking area.
- Mask components as required efficiently and correctly to protect surfaces from subsequent operations
- Trim masking using knives, razor blades, or other sharp tools. Trim masking in accordance with detailed work instructions to precise dimensions.
- Remove masking from components
- Inspect work for completion and quality as well as deliver work in time frame as specified by work order
REQUIRED SKILLS:
This position is vital to the plating production lines. The successful masking helper is exceptionally dexterous with their hands and can do repetitive motion with little to no variance. This person is required to be able to mask in small and large areas with consistent quality. This person will become familiar with the different types of maskants, from tapes to paints, and how they are applied. They also must become familiar with pre-masking procedures such as vapor degreasing or alkaline cleaning. They must be able to determine whether or not parts require cleaning prior to masking.

- Ability to read prints is a plus
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Masking helpers do not need previous experience, but do need some familiarity with how plating works. Masking helpers can be either transferred from a different helping position or hired as an entry level position.

High school degree or equivalent
