The EHS Manager is responsible for implementing and coordinating programs and controls to remove/reduce risk and ensure compliance for multiple manufacturing and repair facilities in the Houston area. Primary responsibility will be for a 500,000 sq. ft facility located in Northwest Houston. The breadth of technology spans from welding machines, brake press, shear, plate roll, high-definition CNC plasma, vacuum furnaces, to robotic thermal spraying, 3 to 5 axis machining centers, 5 axis EDMs, precision grinding machines and large 3-D printing and machining center. The EHS Manager will play a critical role in establishing the new facility and implementing EHS procedures and controls. This is a hands-on opportunity to establish tactical and operational EHS excellence across our growing Houston area facilities.
- Lead implementation of safety and environmental controls and practices to achieve safe and compliant operations
- Implement global EHS compliance and cultural initiatives and develop local supporting programs (Life-Saving Rules, LOTO, Electrical Safety, Cranes and Rigging, Observations, Audits)
- Provide expertise in EHS for existing and new processes and work
- Conduct training and leadership activities to improve safety compliance and culture
- Work and collaborate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary group to achieve safe operations in a sustainable and cost-effective manner
- Identify, investigate, report, and provide guidance relative to root causes of incidents, employee safety programs, regulatory compliance relative to EHS
- Report, monitor and analyze EHS trends and implement programs designed to drive continuous improvement
- Other projects and responsibilities as may be assigned.
- Minimum of five years safety management and leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in safety and health or a related discipline preferred
- Experience managing facility environmental compliance (stormwater, water sampling, waste generation/removal)
- Knowledge of modern manufacturing and repair practices and equipment
- Multiple location experience a plus
- Knowledge and experience in training in a group environment
- Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
- Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and sensitive information.
