Reporting directly to the General Manager, Eskay Creek the Manager, Mobile Maintenance is responsible for leading the mobile maintenance department, developing and executing maintenance strategies, managing budgets and vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with safety and company policies, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize equipment performance and lifecycle management.
- Provide leadership and direction to the mobile maintenance department, ensuring alignment with site production goals and corporate objectives.
- Mentor, coach, and develop leaders, coordinators, and tradespeople to build a high performing, engaged maintenance team.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
- Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution for mobile equipment fleets.
- Lead annual budget preparation and actively manage cost control for both capital and operating expenditures, balancing efficiency with operational needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, OEMs, and suppliers, including management of service contracts, warranty negotiations, and vendor performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies in all maintenance activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data analytics and condition monitoring technologies.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to optimize equipment performance and lifecycle management.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- 10+ years of Mobile Maintenance experience in an open pit mining environment, including 5+ years in a maintenance management role.
- Strong knowledge of mobile mining equipment maintenance, reliability strategies, and implementation of central maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Proven track record in budget management, cost reduction, progressing critical spare inventory and equipment performance improvement.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
- Experience managing contractors and support agreements includes creating, overseeing, and complying with contracts, managing the full contract lifecycle, ensuring adherence to terms, and overseeing the performance of both contractors and service providers
- Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
- Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
- Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
- Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
The expected hourly/salary range for this position is CAD$170,000-$200,000 in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines, and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
