The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance department and ensuring the efficient operation of all machinery, equipment, and systems within the facility. This role includes managing a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and ensuring that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. The Maintenance Supervisor will also collaborate with production, engineering, and safety teams to maintain optimal equipment performance, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and lead the maintenance team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring that work is completed safely and efficiently. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities for team members.
- Develop and implement a maintenance schedule to ensure all equipment receives preventive maintenance at regular intervals. Prioritize urgent repairs and coordinate schedules to minimize production downtime.
- Oversee the troubleshooting and repair of equipment breakdowns. Provide technical support and direction to maintenance technicians for complex mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues.
- Ensure that preventive and predictive maintenance tasks are being performed on schedule. Analyze machine performance data and recommend improvements to extend equipment life and reduce unscheduled downtime.
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts to ensure necessary materials are available when needed. Track inventory levels and work with procurement to order replacements or new items as required.
- Manage the maintenance department’s budget, ensuring that costs are controlled and resources are used efficiently. Evaluate the need for equipment repairs or replacements and make recommendations for capital investments.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with safety protocols and industry regulations. Enforce lock-out/tag-out procedures, and ensure that maintenance personnel are properly trained on safety standards and best practices.
- Lead efforts to identify areas for process improvement, increase equipment uptime, and reduce costs. Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives in the maintenance department.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve equipment issues, improve processes, and support overall facility performance.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities, work orders, repairs, and inspections are properly documented in the maintenance management system. Provide regular reports to management on maintenance performance, KPIs, and equipment status.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machine repair is a must.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial machinery, mechanical systems, electrical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.).
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other maintenance management tools.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing issues before they impact production.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members, production staff, and other departments.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory position, preferably in a manufacturing environment (aerospace or precision manufacturing experience is a plus).
- Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environment (e.g., OSHA, EPA, lockout/tagout procedures).
- Certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or related fields is a plus.
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, or bend for extended periods while inspecting and repairing machinery.
- Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination to operate tools and equipment during maintenance tasks.
- Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including noisy, hot, or cold manufacturing settings.
- Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights as necessary for equipment repair and inspection.
- Ability to focus on detailed tasks and monitor equipment performance for extended periods.
