Tamatta Mining seeks an experienced Shop Foreman to lead a high-performance service team responsible for maintenance and repair of premium mining equipment for a key client. About the Role: The Shop Foreman will drive day-to-day shop operations, ensure safety and quality, optimize workflows, and mentor technicians. You will partner with field teams and management to deliver timely maintenance, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life.
- Lead and optimize the mechanical shop’s daily operations, ensuring on-time, defect-free maintenance and repairs.
- Develop and execute efficient work plans, prioritize tasks, and manage bottlenecks to meet or exceed deadlines and quality targets.
- Assign, supervise, and coach mechanics; monitor performance, provide feedback, and support skills development.
- Manage parts and materials by monitoring inventory, forecasting needs, and driving cost-effective procurement.
- Inspect, diagnose, and supervise preventive maintenance and repair of premium mining equipment; ensure workmanship meets or exceeds OEM specs.
- Enforce safety standards, conduct regular risk assessments, and drive a continuous safety culture.
- Resolve shop issues, including conflicts, equipment defects, and process inefficiencies, with data-driven problem solving.
- Collaborate with maintenance planners, field service, and management to coordinate activities and allocate resources.
- Maintain accurate, auditable records of work orders, maintenance histories, parts usage, and KPI data.
- Valid Red Seal or Interprovincial Journeyman’s Certificate (HD Mechanic) or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a mechanical shop or field service environment; demonstrated track record of improving uptime and reliability.
- Strong mechanical and technical background with deep knowledge of mining-equipment systems.
- Proven leadership and people-management skills; ability to motivate, develop, and retain top talent.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management abilities; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations (e.g., lockout/tagout, MTSA/CSA standards) and a proactive safety mindset.
- Proficiency in managing work orders, maintenance histories, and documentation; data-driven with attention to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to interface effectively with management, procurement, and field teams.
