Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Shift Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical, technical, and troubleshooting background with the ability to repair various systems on large production machinery. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are operating efficiently. The Maintenance Shift Technician will be responsible for performing routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks while adhering to safety standards, environmental regulations and ISO 9001 quality protocol.
Duties:
•Perform regular maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems to include rebuilding, replacement, reconditioning and adjusting while incorporating preventive and predictive measures.
•Mechanical support on multiple transfer pump configurations, blowers, conveyors both belt and screw.
•Fans, filters, agitators, mixers, mills, dryers, melters, kilns, packaging systems, heat exchangers both shell and tube and plate, bulk handling systems, dust collection systems, precipitators, and scrubbers.
•Major projects and full plant outages.
•Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot issues effectively.
•Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (JDE) for tracking work orders and inventory.
•Fabricate parts as needed to ensure timely repairs.
•Ability to use specialized tools such as ultrasonic thickness tester, laser alignment instrument, chain falls and come a long.
•Torquing equipment, pullers, and balancing equipment. Drill press, hydraulic press, power saws and oxy-acetylene torch.
•Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored, maintained, and inspected.
•Respond promptly to maintenance requests from maintenance planners and assigned leads. The ability to effectively communicate to maintenance leadership repair strategies and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience:
•Must possess at least 7 years' experience in at least two primary craft skills: boilermaker, carbon steel, stainless steel, or titanium welding, pipefitting, millwright, or general mechanical skills
•Must possess at least 7 years' experience in at least two secondary craft skills: rigging, fabrication, well pump repairs, plumbing, or carpentry
•Confined space, hot-work compliant
•Mobile equipment - certified in at least 3 of the following: forklift, extended boom forklift, mini-loader, front end loader, backhoe, man-lift. Broderson carry deck and crane.
•Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
•Ability to understand and apply mechanical principles
•Experience using CMMS (JDE) for tracking maintenance activities is preferred.
•Experience in supporting Health and Safety onsite
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent required
•Certification in at least 2 of the Primary & Secondary craft skills listed above
•7-10 years' experience working with machinery relative to mechanical and chemical processes
•Ability to work from heights or confined spaces
•Ability to pass a respirator fit test
•Experience with materials handling techniques and proper storeroom documentation
•Proficient computer skills, the ability to use software and enter data
•Attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
•Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively
•Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
•Standout Experience: centrifugal pump rebuilds with mechanical seal installations.
•Centrifuge disassembly, rebuild and reassembly.
•Axial flow pump rebuilds.
•Shop fabrication with an emphasis on welding practices, GTAW, SMAW and GMAW.
•Millwright experience desired
•Lathes, boring mills and milling machines.
•Reliability Best Practices CMRP, CRE and REC.
•Previous supervisory experience.
Environmental Conditions:
•Job duties occur both inside and outside. There is exposure to extreme temperatures, moisture, humidity, and high decibel areas. Work may be required during inclement weather.
•Gases, dust, odors, fumes, and mists associated with normal chemical plant operation may be present. Use of proper PPE is required when hazardous conditions are present.
•In production areas employees must wear company supplied protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, gloves, chemical suite and protective footwear.
•Must be able to climb stairs, bend, stoop, walk, twist, grasp, pull, push, reach overhead, and lift up to 50 pounds
