The Truck Driver is responsible for operating a commercial heavy truck on public highways and on
construction jobsites in a safe and efficient manner. Heavy trucks may include end dump trucks, dump
trucks, water trucks, or lowboy trailer trucks. End dump and Dump trucks will haul aggregates, sand,
concrete, hot-mix asphalt, and other construction materials to active work zones. Lowboy drivers will haul
heavy equipment to and from jobsites. The commercial truck driver must also complete pre-trip checks,
assist with fluid checks and maintenance, securing loads, cleaning, and other duties as directed by the
Foreman or Operations Manager. This position is primarily a field-based position but may also be required
to complete task in the office.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Employee must have the ability to self-supervise. They may be responsible for working independently
with direction from senior employees, supervisor, or manager.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. Must be able to climb in and around assigned trucks. Must be able
to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. Failure to meet these requirements may
result in withdrawal of employment or other employment action.

Training:

defined policy with regular supervisor or managerial direction and review.
Financial Responsibilities:
Employees’ actions directly impact operating costs and indirectly influence operating costs. Vehicle fuel
card. Keeps company equipment operating by following operating instructions, reporting breakdowns;
maintaining supplies; performing preventative checks.
Communication:
Excellent communications skills required due to the need to work with other drivers, coworkers, dispatch,
supervisors, management, administration, external and internal customers. Documents load activity, pre-
trip checks, and other required DOT documentation.

Is able to work independently or in conjunction with other truck drivers and crews. Work is performed
accurately and thoroughly. Accepts responsibility and can account for his/her actions. Can communicate
with others using spoken word and clear and concise written communication. Can take care of customer's
needs while following company procedures. Able to organize and direct oneself under the direction of the
supervisor. Accomplishes company goals by completing related tasks as needed. Ability to suggest
improved methods and techniques.
