We’re looking for a P&C Lead Field Technician
with extensive experience in protection and control systems who’s ready to lead critical energy infrastructure projects across the U.S. This senior-level field role involves performing, supervising, and troubleshooting advanced relay testing, substation commissioning, and power system diagnostics. You’ll help shape project execution and serve as a mentor for other team members while upholding the highest standards in safety, quality, and technical accuracy.
What You’ll Do
- Perform advanced testing on P&C relays, including verifying voltage/current inputs, calibrating trips, and SCADA integration
- Commission new substations and verify all protection, pilot channel, and control system equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair relaying, controls, SCADA, and communications systems
- Execute projects efficiently and safely in alignment with company and client procedures
- Reference and complete assignments based on technical drawings and job specifications
- Support junior field technicians and relay personnel with technical guidance
- Conduct regular field work both indoors and outdoors
- Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas- 10+ years of hands-on experience in P&C commissioning, panel checkout, and relay calibration - 5+ years of leadership in field project execution or relay system integration
- Background in substation design, P&C engineering, SCADA, or data integration systems is highly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of 3-phase systems, P&C schemes, and diagnostic test equipment
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, elementaries, and scopes of work
- Strong project prioritization and team coordination skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)- Willingness to travel 50%+ across the continental U.S.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Available for extended hours, weekends, and occasional on-call service
- Completion of annual safety training (travel may be required)
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and enduring extended physical activity- Requires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments
- SCADA/fault data integration testing
- Completion of a trade school program, technical college, associate degree, or skilled trade certification in welding or a related field is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with CVTs, line traps, and power line carrier equipment
- Technical certifications in P&C or relay systems
- Past mentorship or supervisory field experience
